AR library pricing

Aug 23, 2010 at 12:07 PM

I' was looking for a AR library with good performance in the .NET space.
Goblin XNA is just what I needed.
The goal is to display a 3D model on a single AR Tag nothing really fancy I think.

But I'm a bit confused about the pricing for the AR Libraries.

Avalar is only a 356 trial.
When I used it, it already started from day 188 ?
I contacted the Avalar and discovered that the library has a really expensive price for only a one year of usage.

I didn't try ARTag because it doesn't have a public download.
Will buying the book "Augmented Reality: A Practical Guide" give me unrestricted usage of the library ?

Thanks in advance !

Nope, buying the book won't give you unrestricted usage of ARTag, and I don't think ARTag even has commercial license.

ARToolkit is another choice, and it's cheaper than Alvar if the price is a concern. You just need to write the wrapper yourself and plug in to Goblin just like ARTagTracker or ALVARMarkerTracker.

We know ARToolkit works with Goblin, but we're not distributing anything related to it due to its GPL license.

It seems like it counts from whenever they built those .lib files not from when you downloaded for installed.
