Texture2D appearing on ground

Is there an easy way to make Texture2D objects (basically jpg file) appear on ground? I am trying to follow Tutorial 8, but as far as I understand, in order to make objects appear on ground, you need to add them to a MarkerNode, and it seems like they need to be 3D objects created by GeometryNode.

It's quite simple to do it. Create a quad that has texture coordinate (e.g., VertexPositionNormalTexture) just like Tutorial 7, and then assign your quad (assuming it's a class that extends PrimitiveModel) to GeometryNode.Model. Then add that to a MarkerNode. Make sure the size of the quad as well as the triangle drawing order is correct.

thanks. although i ended up with 3d boxes like in tutorial 8, it might be useful later.
